here shortly i will be getting my eighth tattoo.

yes, you read that right... eight.

i love love tattoos.

i'm the type of person that would totally get an entire back piece done if i thought i could pull it off. but i just don't think it'd look right on me.

all of the tattoos i have now are fairly small, and will not be seen by looking at me unless i choose for you too. that's what i love most about all of mine, they are all hidden, for the most part.

for my next one, i am absolutely in love with the font on this tattoo.

so much so that i searched the web until i found the name + website to print out the entire font.

so a couple of weekends ago while i was sitting my big ole bum on the couch watching an epi of Kim and Kourtney take New York, a commercial came on for the Pussycat Dolls workout dvd.

now, i'm no sucker for workout dvd's.

actually, i don't even own a single one.

but anything with sparkles in the commercial totally catches my eye!

i promptly typed that shiz into google and was super stocked to realize that amazon had the dvd for less than ten bucks with shipping. hmmm.. was that because it sucked? because it was released in 2009? who really cares?!

i hate working out, i love to dance. this seems like a win - win for me.

fabulous ole amazon.com already had my magic number saved, so i didn't even have to leave my couch to get the trusty debit card. a few short days later and it was in my mailbox!

what i'm going for here is a stomach like this...

think that's possible?

on a realistic note - while this may be a super fun workout that i would never do in front of another soul because i look like a drunken retard trying to figure out the moves - i don't think this is the secret to abs of steel.

but hey, it may or may not have given me some new bedroom moves.

making a fool of yourself while home alone is fun.. it's cheap, buy one for yourself and try it out!

i'll update you on my abs of steel in 8-ish weeks. ha!

i started this blog back in november of 2008.

not because i wanted to gain success from it.. heck, i hardly knew what blogging was.

a friend of mine at the time was a blogger and was all, "hey you should start a blog". so i did and here we are.

since then i have been a somewhat regular blogger.. kinda.

i blog when i can. comment when i can.

i have made a few 'internet' friends from doing so. but, let's be honest. most normal people, with normal lives, normal jobs, families and homes and things to do in the 'real world' don't have time to spend or post every waking minute of their lives on blogs, twitter, facebook.. i've never tried to gain 'internet friendships' from doing this.. i've never tried to be in the 'cool internet' group of blogs.

i just don't care.

frankly, twatting all damn day with people i don't even know is just weird to me. it makes me want to scream, "get out of your pajamas. get out of your house. go meet a real friend for lunch!"

tho i adore those very select few 'internet friends' that i associate with regularly, online relationships are just not my main agenda. i have plenty of real life friends that i get to hang out and socialize with in the real world.

so PL&A kinda turned into a fun place to post things i love.. every once in a while, sneaking in a post here and there about my real life.

never once have you read a post by me in regards to blog success, blog followers, blog sponsors..

how can i get more, gain more, there are blogs worse than mine, how can i get more attention, blah blah blah.. cry cry cry.. sniff sniff sniff.

it's because i don't care.. i do not have time to live my life on the internet.

yes, i love followers and comments just like the rest of you.

but i'm not heartbroken when i see i lost a follower. or don't get any comments on a post.

this blog, facebook, twitter does not consume my life.. neither does the amount of unread blogs i have in my reader. which at any given moment, is usually 1000+.

i am jealous of no one's 'blog success' or the amount of 'followers' they have.

obsessing over the amount of 'blog followers' you have it just stupid.

you can't control it.. you don't know these people.

why does it matter?

people will read. or not. probably not.

life will go on.

if people want to give you free shit to give away on your blog, congratulations to you.

but really, it's not the most amazing hearts sparkles and sunshine of life. it's cool if you got free lipgloss, but really if it was that much of a big deal to me, i'll go spend $10 and buy my own. no biggie.

several people emailed me after last night's post asking why i worked so much.

i'm not exactly broke. all my bills are paid. i'm not in debt. i don't have bill collection agencies ringing my phone. {just the state of mississippi trying to collect.. ha!}

i have a very successful career that i gained from the bottom up, that i am very proud of! i do everything myself, pay all my own bills, take care of my two babes and working a lot helps me give them and myself the lifestyle that we want to live.

so, it's because.. i just like spending money.

private school ain't cheap y'all. i've gotten 2 new cars within the last 7 months, that ain't free y'all.

and ain't no one gonna support this clothing, shoes and accessory addiction i have going on.

so work is what i do.

however, several people DID NOT email me to call me out about last nights post for my mention of mrs. bangs, that i pissed off last week. i got many emails and comments with LOL's and i couldn't agree more's and i feel the same way's.. i decided not to publish several of these for the simple fact that i'm not trying to start a blog war here. i didn't call anyone out, name any names. i didn't privately email anyone and tell them who i was referring too.. i can't help it if many many many of you knew who i was talking about.

and you knew because i was not the only one who was rubbed the wrong way by this post..

i'll never forget the first time i received

a phone call that would change my whole world.

i guess i should consider myself lucky to have not received

a phone call like this until i was 24..

but to date, this has been the worst phone call i've ever received.

"sweetie, something very bad has happened.."

my dad's words echoed.

my heart sank.

i burst into tears.

over a year later, my heart still hurts.

i dread the day i receive another phone call like this.

no, i am not insensitive to whatever tragedy occurred in her life.. what bugged the shit out of me was the drama of this girl. the fact that she'd take something that was so "devastating" to her and try to flip it for blog comments. when i commented asking what the point of the post was if you were not going to mention what the phone call was about.. she responded with the remark that she didn't want to share it on her blog.
what i find ironic is this was something she felt comfortable enough to share with 600+ twitter followers. fact is, i asked one of my 'in real life' friends about the blog. and before even reading it, she knew exactly who she was referring too. how can you be uncomfortable posting on your personal blog that is there to serve sharing your life but not too uncomfortable for twitter?
no, she was not uncomfortable sharing the details at all.
she posted that blog for non other than attention.
she wanted people to comment and ask why? who? what?
she left left them guessing on purpose to boost her blog stats.
she took something to close and dear to her heart and paraded it around for the internet to see.
wanna know why?
because she's a DRAMA QUEEN.
who in return, try to make me seem like the bad guy. reprimanding me for bringing it up?
uhh, hello.. not like i know the chick.
how did i bring it up?
isn't she the one that blogged about her horrid phone call?
and then blasted for all of twitter?
how else would i know that she was referring to her uncle's suicide.
hypercritical, i say.

when you read a post like the above, what do you take from it?
someone not wanting to share all the details of their personal life? or someone that is begging for the attention + blog comments.

if you've paid any attention to the fashion world the past couple of seasons, you already know that color blocking is all the rave! personally, i'm not a huge fan but have come across a few pieces/colors that i love to mix and match that would not normally be in my comfort zone.

for as long as i can remember, i've been one of those who would never mix black + brown. lately, it's been one of my fav things to do when putting work outfits together in the mornings.

Product Review: L'Oreal Vive Pro Glossy Volume Shampoo + Conditioner

i am a super sucker for different shampoo's + conditioners.

i never use the same one over and over.

you have no idea the kind of difference a new shampoo + conditioner can make on your hair when changed often. usually i buy it based on color + design.. yeah, such a girl. haha!!

a couple of weeks ago my store had this stuff on sale that I decided to try..

L'Oreal Vive Pro Glossy Volume

and yes, i totally bought it just because it was pink!

and anything that 'adds volume' to my layers is usually super awesome.

however, this stuff was not.
i gave it a week before chunking it into the trash can.

it made my hair so, so dry. almost brittle.
and my hair is naturally oily, so i don't typically ever have that problem.
on top of that, when i'd go to use my flat iron, it made it 100 times worse. little sprouts of hair sticking up all over the place. i couldn't get it to smooth down at all.

defiantly not worth the buy.
save your hair some trouble and pass over this stuff if you see it on the shelves.

and it just so happened, i had a frame almost identical that the matching glass was broken when i moved a few months ago. slapped that baby onto the wall with a couple of small names and volia!

i have gottaen more compliments on this easy pasy decorating idea.

up until the past 2 days, memphis has been having amazing weather in the high 50's and low 60's.
which has me really hating winter even more.
i am so ready for some tank tops, flip flops and tan lines!
i love all the spring clothing line/summer swimsuit line catalogs i have been getting in the mail.
alloy's came in yesterday and i fell in love with these wedges..

christmas recap.

better late than never.

last night i finally took some time to upload all the christmas pictures from my camera onto the computer. nothing like capturing those sweet moments to have for all time! i love looking back at the previous year to see how much they've changed or grown. i guess not too much since they both still fit into the same winter pj's. lolol

christmas eve we spent the evening with sweet friends.

we had lots of yummy foods and drinks.

shared laughs and stories with friends we don't see often enough.

and even had a special visit from the 'real' santa with lots of fun reading! {still waiting on the professional pictures to get back to me.}

once we got home, we snuggled into pj's + sat out yummy treats for santa aka. mommy and snuggled on the couch until everyone was fast asleep.

christmas morning, my living room looked like a tornado when all was said and done.

my guy got his skateboard that he asked santa for. however, no iPod touch. i don't think he minded one bit though. since he was allll about his innotab.

my girl is spoiled rotten, what can i say?! she ended up getting her iPad2 from santa. and lots of duck tape.

many of you asked why she wanted duck tape. is all the rave with the kid her age. it comes in many different colors and patterns and they make stuff out of it. you can see some examples here.

i sure hope your holiday was just as jolly!

these boots are made for walking.. and that's exactly what they've been doing!

i bought these wedge boots from kohl's last week and i absolutely love them! i've been wearing them every chance i get. with jeans, skirts/dresses at work. they are so, so comfortable and easy to walk in.

ive been trying to find the perfect wedge boot and i'm so glad i held out!

these come to just below my knee cap. perfect height.

candie's tall wedge boot - originally $99.00, but kohl's always has those mega sales + great coupons.

sizes 6-10.

i did have to buy one size up. they do run a bit small.

friday was my office christmas luncheon/party. we closed down early and stuffed our faces with delish food from the butcher shop, had the funniest game of naughty sanata and were presented with our much needed year end bonuses. i had a blast! i may or may not have drank an entire bottle of wine by myself, left the party and headed right across the street to harass hotpants at work and then went home and crashed for a 4 hour nap. hahaha!! i was so energized after my nap, i went and did some major damage christmas shopping that evening.

saturday was a day spent catching up with some family members, wrapping wrapping wrapping presents and i attended an ugly christmas sweater party that evening. sadly, i didn't take a single picture.. but had the best time ever! great friends, great food, boys vs. girls on catch phrase.. it was a blast!

sunday i don't know what got into me but i woke up super early and literally cleaned my house from top to bottom.. i mean, spotless. it's amazing. then i spent several hours out finishing up my shopping.

but do you hear that people? my christmas shopping is finally done.. yipee!!

can you believe christmas is already less than a week away? yes, that it right.

the other night i dressed up the kiddos, called the ex-hub and we met at the mall to see the jolliest man on earth. my boy had been asking for days when we'd be going to see santa. i knew he had an agenda...

i've never been a big fan of darker lips, until this fall + winter.

i love all the plums + reds when done the right way.

i've been sporting both plum and red lips this season.

i think the trick to it is finding the brand + shade that works for you.

for plum lips - i've been using lorac sheer wash lip stain in sheer luck.

it's dark than you'd think.

i tend to layer it with different color lipsticks or glosses.

depending on my mood or what i'm wearing.

and the great part, it lasts a really long time.

i got mine from ulta.

for red lips - i've been using a freebie that i got in the mail and never reviewed on my blog. imagine that.

milani hd advanced lip color in candy apple.

i love this stuff because it does not stain. i repeat, this red lipstick does not stain. hooray!

it is full of moisture and has yet to find it's way onto my teeth.

i hate the red lipsticks that end up being so messy and get all over your face! not cool.

this brand + shade as worked out perfectly for me.

i've also seen several corals + pinks that i'm loving on other people.

but have not gotten brave enough to try myself.

We have lived in Washington, DC for a long time, so moving to Richmond, Virginia wasn’t too far of a move. My husband’s job transferred him there, and even though we didn’t really want to move, we went happily since the economy is so bad. We were grateful that my husband was able to keep his job even though the company was going through a major restructuring. I work from home, so I was able to keep my job with no problem. I was tasked with setting up all of our services at home since my husband didn’t get much time off for the move. He has been so busy at work that I really didn’t mind taking on all the responsibility. One of the more important things for me since I work from home was our internet service. I searched wireless internet Richmond and found Clear. Once I got that figured out I moved on to TV and phone, and before you know it, we were all settled in. It was really amazing to me how much easier it has gotten to set up all of these services. Last time we moved it was a complete nightmare! I’m still hoping that Richmond becomes a good home for us, and that we don’t end up moving again.

rain rain go away...

it's been raining non-stop for 24+ hours. with no plans to stop for another 48 or so.

yesterday - lazy sunday - i was not complaining.

today - work day monday - my toes have been cold all day!

i do love this weather, but only in small doses.

saturday, my bonus-mom and i took my sweet girl to see ballet memphis preform the nutcracker. it was a first for the both of us as neither of us had ever been to a ballet performance. oh boy, we loved ... such a special day making memories with my girl.

it really put me a little more into the christmas spirit.

we're officially in the spirit of the season around these parts.

we even had snow.. in memphis.. in november, already!

nope, not a fan of that.

but i am a fan of;

hot chocolate with marshmallows. peppermint flavor coffee creamer. carols.. and lots of them. cozy fires. decorations galore. and glitter, lots and lots of glitter. and elf. we've already watched this movie over a dozen times in the past couple of weeks.

we decked decked decked the halls in our home sunday evening.

love love the way our tree looks all decorated and lit up.

my babes did most of the hanging of the ornaments. while i took lots of pictures.

and broke ornaments.

not one. not two. but three of my favorite ornaments.

mom- 3, kids- 0. what's wrong with this?? ha!

my babes even got festive in their bedrooms.

decorating their trees and starting a count down of when santa will be there to leave little happies under them. both of these make me smile.

now, if it'll only stop raining/sleeting/snowing long enough to get some decorations up on the outside of our home. or.. then again.. i could wait for gator guy to come in town next weekend and do it for me.... hmmm.. haha!

i trust you all have a extremely thankful thanksgiving.

we spent the day with lots of family + friends.

gator guy even came into town for a visit, but i missed out on getting any pictures with him.

i loved every single second of my 4.5 day weekend.

i never never ever get time off from work. and we have like 3 long weekends a year, so it was very very nice. enjoy the lazy days with my babes.

we did lots of nothing; tv watching, playing, staying warm in front of the fire. and we wore pj's all day every day. my favorite!

we did manage to clean out bedrooms one afternoon in preparation for lots of new goodies for christmas. but now all the crap is in my garage. a local daycare is really gonna love me once i manage to get out there and go through everything that my kids tossed.

however, i did get out of the house with my step-mom for a few hours to go shopping on black friday. a big big thanks to my daddy for watching my kiddos while we spent his money!

you know i can't pass up any kind of deals + steals like the ones offered on the most magical day of the year. haha. i was so excited that even though we didn't get out until 9:30, we got some awesome awesome deals!

scored a shiny new crock pot for only $20.

new bedding set for my little guy for only $35.

racked up at the limited 50% off sale.

hit up bed bath & beyond for a steal on my favorite k-cups.

my girlfriends and i ordered our themed shirts + tickets and counted down the days to the midnight premier of Breaking Dawn, part 1.

i think there was about 13 of us this year??

though i was highly disappointed in the lack of sparkle in this movie {there was none!} i really enjoyed it. their outdoor wedding ceremony was so so pretty.. and looked so magical. i loved bella's dress.. and an outdoor woodsy wedding has totally been in my brain for a while now. my guess is there's about to be quite a few fall brides mimicking the event from the movie. love.

overall, i did really enjoy the movie. yes, some parts seemed rushed and a little silly. but you can imagine that things would get that way with them cramming so much of a fictional story line into a movie.

i wish we saw more of the baby & edward. and is it me or does emmit's hair drive anyone else crazy? pick a color already! not a fan of the shorter do on alice either.

but the headboard scene...??! oh boy, the headboard scene!

the whole island. the honeymoon.

it reveled the perfect amount and left the rest up to you imagination. perfectly done.

i'm going back this weekend to see it again. can't wait!

i have never heard of this stuff until a few weeks ago and i'm so glad i did!

this past weekend all the 4th grade moms from my daughter's school went out to dinner and to a late movie. i have been wanting to see {footloose} since it came out. so you can imagine how excited i was when it was everyone's pick. i love love love the first one, so i knew this one would be cute regardless.

one of the things i really liked, was the fact that they started the movie out with the scene of what actually happened to the students making the ridiculous laws go into force.

i thought the movie was good. it was a good remake.

they changed up just enough and kept plenty old of the story line, in my opinion.

and like every time i've seen the original, my feet were tapping away and i was ready to go slip on my cowboy boots and do some dancing when it was all said and done.

after falling off the reading wagon for the entire summer, i finally broke out my nook the other day and started this book. have any of you read it yet?

i'm about halfway through and oh-my-goodness.

i've never read anything quite like this before.

she goes into great details many of the things that happened to her.

i have chills over my body for most of the time i'm reading this.

my heart breaks for this girl, this woman.

her family.

her animals.

her children.

this book has even brought me to tears.

and like i mentioned, only halfway through it..

big purses.

no, we can't leave home without it. who really cares if we can fit an animal in it. or a small toddler at that. stop complaining. you know you love it. what else would you do at those outings when you want us to hold your wallet, keys, sunglasses and cellphone.

lots + lots of shoes.

yes, we buy them often. yes, we need them in several colors. no, there is no such thing as too many shoes. no, this will not change. don't complain that you don't have very much closet space. we don't really care.

target vs. walmart

if you don't understand that there is in fact a difference, we shouldn't be together. that is all.

divulging everything to our best friend.

let's face it fellas, we need to bitch - compare - complain - criticize to the one person in our lives that will tell us the god's honest truth. it's okay if you don't understand why. or understand the friendship. we're not asking for that. all we're asking is for you to accept the fact that our best friend(s) will know everything. yes, everything.

on again, off again dieting.

if we wake up feeling a little more snug in our fat girl jeans, then it's back on. but then we might make it through a week's worth of tanning bed trips and feel better. so off we go. noticing overnight break-outs on the face in the morning, diet. clear pretty skin, good hair day, no diet day for me. it's just how we're programmed.

bigger is always better.

we know what you're thinking, it should be the thought that counts. in this case, it's not. sorry, like it or not but we compare. and compare hard. #1 item, the bling. the ring.

we know you want us to love + appreciate what you get us to begin with. it's just not the case. we try. we really, really try. i'll leave it at that.

and the mother of them all... i'm just tired.

there's always going to be something wrong when those words come out of our mouth. it's our way of coaxing you into finding the root of the issue.

i'm finally getting around to sharing some more pictures of our beach vacay from last month. seeing these is really making me miss the sunny hot days + ocean.

we had so much fun!

i can't wait to take my kiddos back next summer,

i just love the sun-kissed look on them!

Being the mother to three boys means there’s not a lot of time for travel but this year I vowed that we would go on some kind of vacation. My parents are going to be in Florida for a month later in the year so I thought that would be the perfect opportunity to go down, get some extra help with child care and really enjoy the time with my family. I got us totalalarmsystems for the house so I wouldn’t have to worry about it while we were gone and my husband even requested the time off work which I’m really excited about. I know my boys are pumped because they’ve literally never been to the beach and I’m just happy to get some time away from the house. I spend all my days cooking and cleaning and doing laundry and I’ll just enjoy sitting on the beach for a few hours at a time doing absolutely nothing at all! I love my family and I’m so thankful for my parents right now.

it's been a very busy hectic crazy 2 week around my parts.

house hunting every spare second i could.

trying to find -the place- that would be perfect for us to call home.

a place where i felt safe.

where my kids could play and i wouldn't have to worry.

where the neighbors seemed friendly,

and the bikes + toys were all over lawns and sidewalks.

where we could have our holidays,

halloween thanksgiving christmas decorating at it's finest.

i finally found it.

the place we could call home.

and we're in love.

now the moving and packing continues.

trying to get everything done and situated takes time.

working full time and having 2 kiddos 'helping' does not make things that much easier.

but i know, it'll all eventually be done.

for now, i'm just thankful.

thankful that these 2 weeks of living out of suitcase have come to an end.

wearing the same outfits and playing with the same backpack of toys is no more.

we can ride bikes and scooters in our own neighborhood.

i can once again cook dinner in my own kitchen.

look at the pictures of my smiling babes hanging on my own walls.

i don't see how some people do it.

live from place to place,

out of bags.

relying on family members.

2 weeks was plenty long for me.

so thank you for hanging in there while i've been missing around this little ole blog of mine.

i promise, i'm here.. and i'll return to the blogging world soon!

work was sooo busy once i got back from my vacay.

took me forever to catch up.

then my nights are being spent packing.

since today {the 20th} marks the day i have to be moved out of my rental house.

current status = homeless.

packing and moving stuff into a garage while me + kiddos stay with my parents,

living out of suitcases.

pets dumped onto people who love us enough to put up with them for a bit.

we had everything loaded onto a moving truck last sunday, ready to take it to my new rental home, when the rental house fell threw. talk about the very last second!

it was an insane day. filled with lots of tears.

storage places were closed.

i didn't know what to do.

so everything is stuck in my guy's garage.

while i'm on a massive hunt to find a new house.

it's been a crazy busy time since i returned home.

i'm exhausted and just want to go to sleep & wake up 6 months from now.

everything settled and a-okay.

prayers people.

and lots of happy pills.

lost and lots.

everything is going to be okay, in the end.

if it's not okay, it's not the end.

we headed to orange beach several days before all the family + friends arrived.

me + my babes and my friend k + her daughter.

we had so much fun beaching it up, shopping and going out to lunch + dinner.

we drive to pensacola florida to eat dinner at margaritaville + visit the land shark.

today is my first day back at work after 9 days. so not looking forward to this week.

missing the beach + sound of the waves, already.

lots of catching up + an exploding email box = not a fun day for me.

today we're heading home from our much needed beach vacay.

while we are so so sad to leave,

i am beyond ready to get back to my puppies + kitty + bestie + my new guy +++ my bed.

all i have missed terribly!!

my brother's wedding was amazing.

after 28 years of loneliness.. i finally have a sister.

i think any decent shopoholic would agree with me!

when the place you're vacationing has a huge outlet mall ready and willing to take the swipe of your debit card as many times as you'll allow!!

super close, like 7 miles down the road from the beach we're staying, close is the tanger outlet in foley. i knew i shouldn't, but how could one resist??!

i haven't been to an outlet mall in years!! i mean like 8 long years!

it's been a blast!

the ten year old turned ten.

very sad.

she's too grown.

and for her birthday she wanted to have a slumber party

with three of her friends

because there was going to be swimming, of course.

and because she knows her mama loves a good theme!

the girls were so presh!

a grand time was had.

the bestie came over to help me set up, prepare cupcakes and wrangle kids while i was finishing up last minute things.

there was food, fun, swimming, makeup, glitter, clothing changes,

wii just dance, cellphone video making, more makeup, ghost stories, dvd watching and about 4 loads of wet towels.

the house was a wreck, to say the least.

my girl had a ball.

i think low key is for sure the way to go.

if my kids have to get older, at least that means smaller birthday parties.

haha!!

still enjoying our time at the beach. i love shopping in new places!!

yesterday my soon-to-be sister-in-law emailed all the maids asking us to send in our choice of hairstyle so the hair dresser would have time to determine how long she'll need with each of the bridesmaids.

it's tuesday, august 23, 2011.

as my alarm went off at 6am this morning, i couldn't help but to keep glancing at the clock waiting for it to hit 6:30.

10 years ago at 6:30am on august 23, 2001, the alarm clock went off,

scared the.. well, BABY.. out of me. it set my labor in motion.

being startled awake, at 6:30am on august 23, 2001, broke my water and set my life on a path i could not even imagine.

the best thing to come out of my teenage years was about to change my life forever.

10 years later as i laid in bed watching the clock

watching her sleep

and wondering where the last ten years have gone,

i couldn't have pictured my life from 18 years old, moving forward, turning out any different.

she placed me in the most important role of my life.

the most challenging.

the most rewarding.

she made me a mom.

she couldn't be any more of her mother's daughter if they had cloned my cells.

i love that she's growing into such a strong person. a smart girl. a wonderful sister.

a young lady.

and as i think/speak/type ten years old,

it makes my heart race. it brings tears to my eyes.

i'm not sure i'm ready for this. it seems too big.

she's just a little girl, she is.

i'm hoping this innocence lasts for many many more years.

wow - my girl is ten today.

all she wants? a cellphone. and to eat dinner at red robin.

her dad and i got her an iphone.

she may freak, just a little.

i can't wait to see her face!
